How will the use of colored mortar affect the appearance of my project?

Mortar joints account for up to 20% of your brick or stone wall, and the color is an important factor when deciding the overall appearance.

What does the “M” stand for in brick pricing?

M means thousand in Roman Numerals, and it is always in uppercase. It is better to quote in $/M when you are dealing with smaller case per unit and when items are not often sold in single units.

Since you specialize in brick and stone, are those the only products that you carry?

Will the size of brick affect the cost of my project?

While the cost of a bigger brick is slightly higher than a modular size, this cost is usually offset by a decrease in labor cost. Many contractors bid by the brick and less material equals less labor.

I noticed several broken brick upon delivery, is this normal?

ASTM standards allows for a percentage of “breakage”. These brick can most often be used where a shorter length of brick is required, such as an inside corner or around obstructions.

How do paver brick differ from building brick?

Building bricks are made up mainly of clay and spend about a week inside of a kiln creating a lightweight, porous product. Pavers are created from a mix of shale and clay and typically spend 2-3 times longer in a kiln creating a very strong, and very heavy brick.

What is thin stone?

Thin stone is a facing product that does not require footings, ledges, or traditional wall ties. Using proper technique, thin stone can be supported solely by the wall itself.

How thin is thin stone and how much does it weigh?

Generally speaking, thin stone does not exceed 1 1/2 inches in thickness and does not exceed 12 pounds per square foot.
